Esztergom is a city of Hungary located at 50 kilometers to the North-West of Budapest, in the area of Komárom-Esztergom. Its population is of 30,112 inhabitants (2006).

Capital of Hungary from the 10th to the 13th century, it is in Esztergom that was crowned in the year 1000, king Etienne, first king of Hungary.

The basilica and its gigantic cupola (more than 100 meter in height) dominate the city. Built between 1822 and 1869, it constitutes the largest religious building of Hungary. It is besides today the seat of the primacy of Hungary.
