City of Art & History, Vienne has been inhabited since early ancient times. From the 3rd century BC a tribe of Gaule called Allobroges settled there and later made the place its main town.

Vienne's loyalty to Rome during the Galtic Wars earned it the distinction of becoming a Latin colony (about 50 BC).

The town had various remarkable monuments, some of which can still be seen today. Nowadays, Vienne is essentially a touristic and commercial city.

It is a focus of intense commercial and cultural activity all year round, with its cultural highlight being The International Vienne Jazz Festival, organized every summer.
