Equal
 Plaine Commune

The “Territory & heritages for a new shared economical value” project is dedicated creating and developing with the unemployed people new economic activities in order to promote the urban community heritage, pointing out the archeology and the local craft abilities.

The EQUAL European program supports our project. As in a kind of laboratory, our original process brings together the approaches of economic development, tourism, and heritage through common values based on social development, solidarity and culture.

EQUAL Project A specific project for a specific heritage

Plaine Commune has always been a land of memoir and a welcoming area to communities. The Early Middle Ages period is the cornerstone of the exceptional architectural and cultural heritage, and the primary richness of the urban community.

The main targets of “Territory and heritages for a new shared economical value” are based on this heritage, in order to create new jobs in the field of craft-skills.

The main focus of the project

The actions are the following:

  • Identification of people with specific skills which are frequently unknown,
  • Gathering together of artcraft-men in order to develop their business and to consider their involvement in the other actions of the project,
  • Technical training of people in different craft abilities,
  • Dealing the derivative products and diversifying of the products range in order to maintain the craft activities,
  • Gathering together whole participants to confront their positions in order to enrich the answers.

All these actions are bearing in mind the pattern of participative democraty by regularly informing the participants.

This project is supported by an interdisciplinary and diversified partnership: the Plaine Commune Urban Community, the city of Saint-Denis and the associations APIJ-Bat (ecological building and insertion), Franciade (Enhancement of archaeology and heritage image) and Objectif Emploi (identification and training).
