Birgu Fest 2010
Fiday 8 th
October 2010:
The Birgu Local Council invites all the public and
private schools of Malta and Gozo to visit the City
of Birgu. Cultural tours will be organised for these
school children, where they will be given the
possibility to visit all the cultural and historical
places, for free, together with seeing historical
re-enactments and given educational lectures.
On Friday evening, musical concerts will be held with
free public access.
Saturday 9 th October 2010:
Is the day that
everyone, will be waiting for, where the “Birgu by
Candlelight” event will take place. In this 5th
consecutive year, the Birgu Local Council, will be
organising this event with a slight difference where
it will be competing to attain the “Guinness Book of
Record” for having the City lit by Candles with an
impaccable amount of candles.
In morning will be a musical parade by the Wallace
Pipes and Drums, who will lively the City with their
music. Till late in the night musical concerts will
be held in various open spaces and choral concerts
take place in th various church found in Birgu.
In the same time, museums will be open till late at
reduced prices and various re-enactments and street
theatre will take place. Not only, foreign musicians
will also take part in this festival as part of the
European funded project that the Birgu Local council
is participating in the “Oralities” project.
Sunday 10th October 2010:
Birgu will be alive again as various activities will
be organised such as cultural tours, re-enactments
and yet another performance by the Wallace Pipes and
Drums.
