For more
than 400 years, Toledo has been an Islamic city and
the trace of this past is still visible today. The
mosque of Bab al-Mardum is one of the most important
sign of the Muslim past of the city. The excavation
and studies led by the Consorcio of Toledo revealed
two unknown aspects of the mosque: its expansion and
its transformation in a Christian church in the XII
century.
