There are more than 4 000 French cities twinned with around 6000 European partners.
Most of the regions and counties in France are also committed in European and international cooperation programmes.
The exchanges between citizens and local stakeholders are the best way to practice Europe on the ground. But it is now necessary to reflect on new modes of actions, new ways to bring the European citizens together around concrete projects. Twinning must evolve to answer more efficiently to the challenges of a Europe, which got bigger, and intends to promote its common values in the rest of the world.
The French Association of City councils and Regions of Europe decided to organise this first national meeting opened to the European communities involved or willing to get involved in European or International partnerships.
Members of parliament, European commission representatives and international and national institution representatives will be present.
You are invited to express your opinion on the new perspectives of cooperation which are being developed for the 21st century.

Within the framework of specific workshops (European citizenship, youth mobility, cooperation network, solidarity between North and South, Balkans…) and thanks to the testimonies of several actors committed in various types of cooperation, every participant will be able to find new sources of inspiration and create a new dynamism for future exchanges.
