Benefit from a free guided tour or discounts on products when visiting an unknown city: the idea is enjoyable!
From Monday, the inhabitants of Rennes Metropolitan district can benefit from this offer in three other European cities – members of the Alliance of European Cultural Cities (AVEC) - Arles (Bouches-du-Rhone - France), Pézenas (Hérault - France) and Ragusa (Sicilia- Italy).
The concept was initiated by the tourist office of Rennes Metropolitan district six months ago. "Many cities are interested. Four other councils are currently preparing to enter the programme, among which Tours (Indre-et-Loire, France) and Evora (Alentejo, Portugal)", explains Dominique Irvoas Dantec, director of the tourist office of Rennes Metropolitan district.
In Arles and Pézenas, the inhabitants of Rennes Metropolitan district can already benefit form a free guided-tour. In Ragusa, the idea is creative: the council offers a free degustation of local products in selected shops.
Obviously, the privilege is mutual. The inhabitants of these three cities will benefit from advantages when visiting the Brittany capital.
The AVEC networks counts 36 cities form 11 European countries who have been working for long together around tourism issues.
But this is the first time that a project includes so much the inhabitants. “We wanted them to have a concrete advantage of being part of an European network” stated Dominique Irvoas Dantec. And we hope to attract even more visitors in our cities with this operation.
